VIRTUAL REALITY

Okay I agree, virtual reality may seem a little out-dated these days. The idea of the virtual reality glasses is a couple of years old and now it has gone mainstream. But the new developments that are going on right now are amazing and ground braking. New opportunities ahead!

So now here are a couple of examples of the latest developments in virtual reality, which I think are definitely “cool”. So first we have Google’s Tilt Brush. It is a virtual reality glass especially made to use it in combination with Paint. What? Paint? Yes, indeed. The old-fashioned Paint as you may know has reached a whole other level. With this Tilt Brush you are standing right in the middle of your own creations while you are making them. It can be used to make your own fantasyland or even designing clothes. It’s amazing, watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TckqNdrdbgk.

Next we have of the expressions of VR in gaming. This takes gaming (and the trend gamification) again to a whole other level. Last week Playstation presented it's new Playstation VR at the E3-Expo. Where Paint goes from just gaming to real life creating, the gaming as we know it today goes from just playing to really practicing your war-skills (almost creepy). Watch the video of the Cyberith Virtualizer, where two guys are playing GTA5. Instead of looking at a flat screen, they are literally running away from cops, while pointing out there guns at them. So why don’t we use these kind of technology for training our soldiers, instead of sending them to a far of place?

That virtual reality is not only just for gaming is a fact. Let’s take for example this article from the International Business Times (http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/royal-london-hospital-first-use-virtual-reality-live-stream-surgery-1554386). The Royal London Hospital is about to become the first hospital in the world to use virtual reality. They are going to use it so thousands of student can watch live a top cancer surgeon doing his job, to became butter surgeons themselves. Conclusion: virtual reality is not out-dated at all, but it has just begun.
