Playful learning is not a new thing at all. When I was very young, like 2 of 3 years old, I had these boxes that teached me about figures. Now I see around me that young kids are learning way more complex and difficult stuff from a young age. Technology is a great way to improve teaching materials and develop new ways to teach them new things. I found this article about this Photon robot, that helps children learning about logical thinking, experimenting and even how to code. This robot is made for children from the age of 6. Learning how to code at the age of 6. It sound ridiculous, but somehow it is true. And why not, if they can play at the same time? This robot grows together with the child as it is still learning itself. So it’s not just the robot teaching the child, it’s also the other way around. By playing games Photon learns new things like waking and watching. It helps your child communicate. Every choice the child makes has different effect on Photon what learns the child about the meanings of cause and effect. The trends we see here are of course technology, but also gamification and user experience. It improves the quality of life of the kids from a very young age.

I don’t have kids myself, but it seems to me that children are starting to learn at a way younger age then I did. In The Netherlands for example, children start learning English from the age of 6. I started with English at the age of 11. Now I am 24. Is it a good thing? As long as they can play too, I think it is.
