Formbox is device that you can connect to (mostly) every vacuum cleaner. The air pressure gets the plastic boards vacuum around almost any abject at your house. Watch the video on the left side of this page to see how it works. With the Formbox you can make a lot of cool interior pieces yourself: flowerpots, lamps, vases, trays, plates and so on. But why do we want to put so much effort into something you can by in all kinds of stores? The only reason I can come up with is that in this way you can personalise everything. Now you can fill your house with interior all made by yourself. Totally unique. Like I told you before in my post about Shiftwear and The Scribble Pen, everyone can be an artist these days. With this device everyone can be a designer as well. Sell your products and you are a salesman. We want to do it ourselves so we can express ourselves. We are what we eat, we are what we wear and we are how we live. Expressing your identity through all these lifestyle factors is a thing people get more aware of. That is why we put so much effort and time in doing it ourselves rather than by the mainstream products.

Do It Yourself is a trend that I have discussed a couple of times now. I find this one very interesting and I’ll tell you why. On the one hand it looks like we get lazy: we order food over the Internet, we want everything fast and we are creating products that make life easier, for example automatically vacuums cleaners. But...

On the other hand we like to do things ourselves. Stuff we can buy in stores we suddenly produce at home with tutorial on Internet. Two very clear facts that contradict each other. Like I told you before every trend has a countertrend. This is a perfect example. Formbox is an example of the Do It Yourself trend: all things you can by in stores you can now make at your kitchen table.
