So as I told you, it looks like we are addicted to our phone and want to stay updated 24/7. If you have ever been to a concert I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. So many people are filming during the concert and immediately posting that they almost forget to enjoy the show in the moment. On the other hand, the artist is constantly watching at phones and cameras. Nobody dances anymore and enjoys the music, because they are to busy filming and taking photos. The creators of wonder must have thought the same and found a solution. Alicia Keys must have thought the same as well, because now they are collaborating.
Yondr is like a box station that sends out a signal. When people enter the concert of Alicia Keys, they have to put their phone in a Yondr-case. As long as they are in the ‘phone-free zone’ the case cannot be unlocked. Do you want to use your phone? Than you have to leave the concert hall into the lobby. When you go back into the hall, you have to put your phone in the phone case again. In this way people are “forced” to enjoy the concert and not look at their phones. I think a lot of people may not like this in the first place, but it’s for our own good. After the concert you enjoyed every moment of it. So maybe secretly we all want it, or at least we need it.
The In my post ‘Traffic Lights For Smombies’ I already told you about how it seems that smartphone are taking over our lives. In my post ‘Naked Dinner Please’ I told about how we want to stay connected to the world and share how exited our life is. Yondr is not anticipating to this trend, but does exactly the opposite.
Let me first explain you something, for the leeks among us. We are following trends for quite some time now, but why do we do that? We do that so we can hunt down the needs of people before they even know they want it themselves. So as a company you take a pretty big risk if you ignore a trend and do the opposite. But, almost every trend has a countertrend. So maybe you are a forerunner by doing the opposite.
